Elvis Costello estrena “No Flag” en plataformas digitales, su nuevo single.
Fue grabado a principios de año en el Suomenlinnan Studio de la capital finlandesa Helsinki y sobre eso el músico londinense de 65 años apunta:
“Quería ir a un lugar donde nadie me conociera. Así que este es ‘el sonido Helsinki'”.
El último disco de Costello junto a su banda The Imposters es Look Now (2018), seguido por el EP de cuatro canciones Purse (2019).
Esos fueron sus primeros lanzamientos con la banda en más de una década y las primeras grabaciones luego de su paso por el quirófano pero en julio de 2018, Costello anunciaba su retiro de los escenarios para operarse de un “cáncer agresivo”.
En este tiempo, el cantautor post-punk también participó de If You’re Going to the City: A Tribute to Mose Allison, el LP colaborativo en homenaje al pianista fallecido en 2016, con una canción grabada a la par de Amy Allison.
El confinamiento por la pandemia de coronavirus lo mantuvo igualmente activo: así es como en mayo de 2020 participó de un concierto virtual para recaudar dinero destinado al “Fondo COVID-19 para Músicos” de la Fundación de Jazz de América.
